ARCHITECTS CHALLENGED TO DESIGN ENERGY EFFICIENT RETROFIT SOLUTIONS
AWARDS FOR HOUSING DESIGN
The 2010 Daily Telegraph British Homes Awards have invited entries from Homebuilders, Developers, Registered Social Landlords, Architects and Interior Designers across the 10 categories detailed on this site.
Pivotal to the 2010 Awards and sponsored by Premier Guarantee, a leading provider of warranties for new homes, are the British Homes BuildQuality Awards which are open to all registered house builders, developers and social landlords.
2010 RETROFIT Design Competition
As our homes are responsible for the creation of 27% of our carbon emissions, The Awards, working with the BRE National Refurbishment Centre, have focused upon innovative retrofit solutions.
In partnership with The Gentoo Group, the 2010 Retrofit Design Competition has challenged architects to submit innovative energy efficient retrofit design solutions for a redundant housing block in Sunderland, working to the design brief which can be found at britishhomesawards.com/designbrief.asp and
The shortlist was announced by Ruth Reed, RIBA President, at the Awards Presentation, at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square on Thursday 1st July.

- Hess Kincaid Leach with Green 4 Life
- Fraher Architects & O-Negative with The Memory House
The winning scheme for the Retrofit Design Competition will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize in October 2010 and implemented onsite by The Gentoo Group in partnership with the winning architect.
